Sugar is a simple carbohydrate. It tastes sweet and is often quickly digested by the body. Excessive consumption of sugar leads to weight gain.

Common table sugar.

High Fructose Corn Syrup
Hard to digest, cheap sugar used in commercial products. Can lead to weight gain and should be avoided when possible.
